Privacy Policy — China Haul Club

Last updated: October 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how China Haul Club (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit our website, join our community, submit a haul, purchase a membership or product, or otherwise interact with our Services. It applies to personal information of individuals in Canada and, where applicable, other jurisdictions. It is written to align with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and its ten fair information principles, including accountability, identifying purposes, consent, limiting collection, limiting use and retention, accuracy, safeguards, openness, individual access, and challenging compliance.

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. If we make material changes, we will provide notice on the Services or by email where appropriate.

1. Who We Are and How to Contact Us

2. What Personal Information We Collect

We collect personal information only for purposes we have identified before or at the time of collection, and we limit collection to what is reasonable and necessary for those purposes. The categories of information we may collect include:

Information you provide directly

  • Account and community profile information: name or alias, email address, password or passkey credentials, profile photo, bio, and social-media handles you choose to connect.
  • Haul submissions and user-generated content: product photos, unboxing videos, captions, source links (including Taobao, 1688, or other marketplace URLs), descriptions of purchases, and any commentary you publish in community posts, comments, or reviews.
  • Order and transaction information: shipping name and address, billing information, country, order history, membership tier, and subscription status. Payment card details are processed by our payment processor and are not stored by us.
  • Communications: messages you send to us, support requests, survey responses, and records of your interactions with our team.
  • Marketing preferences: your choices about receiving newsletters, community updates, and promotional communications.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical and device data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URLs, and approximate location derived from IP address.
  • Usage data: pages viewed, links clicked, search terms used on the Services, and interactions with haul content.
  • Cookie and tracking data: as described in Section 7.

Information from third parties

If you choose to sign in through a third-party identity provider, we may receive your name, email address, and profile identifier from that provider. If you participate in a co-hosted event, sourcing collaboration, or creator program, we may receive limited information from our partners where you have authorized that sharing.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (such as health or financial account details) except where it is necessary for a specific service you request, and we will seek express consent where required.

3. Why We Collect and How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information for the following identified purposes:

  • Providing the Services: creating and administering accounts, publishing your haul content, enabling community features, and fulfilling memberships and orders.
  • Processing transactions: confirming orders, arranging shipping, handling returns or disputes, and communicating about purchases.
  • Community moderation and safety: reviewing submitted content for compliance with our Community Guidelines, preventing fraud, spam, and misuse, and maintaining a trusted environment.
  • Communicating with you: responding to inquiries, sending transactional messages (such as order confirmations and shipping updates), and, where you have consented, sending newsletters and community updates.
  • Improving the Services: analyzing usage patterns, troubleshooting technical issues, and developing new features, including understanding which haul categories and sourcing guides are most useful to our members.
  • Legal and compliance purposes: meeting our record-keeping obligations, responding to lawful requests from authorities, and enforcing our Terms of Use.

We will not use your personal information for a new purpose without first identifying that purpose and obtaining any required consent, unless the law permits or requires us to do so without consent.

4. Consent and Your Choices

We rely on consent for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information, except in limited circumstances where consent is not required by law. Consent may be express or implied, depending on the sensitivity of the information and your reasonable expectations.

You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. If you withdraw consent for information that is necessary to provide a service, we may no longer be able to provide that service.

Where we rely on consent for marketing communications, you can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting our Privacy Officer. Opting out of marketing does not affect transactional messages related to your account or orders.

5. Disclosure of Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose personal information in the following circumstances:

Service providers and processors. We use third-party providers to operate the Services, including hosting, content delivery, payment processing, shipping and logistics coordination, email delivery, customer support, and analytics. These providers receive only the information necessary to perform their functions and are required to protect it and use it only for the services they provide to us.

Community visibility. Information you choose to publish in community posts, haul submissions, comments, or public profile fields is visible to other members and, depending on your settings, to the public. Please do not include sensitive personal information in public-facing content.

Affiliate and sourcing links. Some haul submissions or guides may contain affiliate or referral links. If you click an affiliate link, the destination merchant or affiliate network may set cookies and collect information about your visit under its own privacy policy. We do not control those third parties’ practices.

Embedded third-party content. Our Services may include embedded videos or posts from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or similar platforms. When you interact with an embed, the platform may collect information about you and may set cookies. Where required, we use consent-gated embeds or privacy-enhanced modes so that third-party scripts do not load until you take an action such as clicking play.

Cross-border processing. Some of our service providers and partners may process personal information outside Canada, including in the United States and other jurisdictions. Where personal information is transferred across borders, we use contractual or other appropriate safeguards and, where required, obtain any additional consent. If your information is transferred to a jurisdiction with different privacy laws, it may be accessible to authorities in that jurisdiction under applicable law.

Legal and business transfers. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or regulatory request, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

6. Retention and Security

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. When information is no longer needed, we destroy, delete, or anonymize it using secure methods.

Retention periods depend on the type of information. Account and community content is generally retained while your account remains active. Transaction records may be retained for the period required by tax and accounting laws. Aggregated or de-identified analytics data may be retained longer because it no longer identifies you.

We use physical, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including access controls, encrypted transmission, sandboxed plugin architecture where applicable, and staff training. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, loss, or misuse.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: required for account login, security, and core site functionality. These cannot be switched off through our consent tool.
  • Analytics cookies: help us understand how the Services are used, which pages and haul categories are popular, and how members navigate the community.
  • Functional cookies: remember your preferences, such as language, display settings, and consent choices.
  • Marketing cookies (where applicable): used only with your consent to measure the effectiveness of campaigns or to support affiliate tracking.

On an EmDashCMS site, consent categories are typically implemented through a cookie-consent plugin that supports category-based choices and loads third-party scripts only after consent. You can change your cookie preferences at any time through the cookie settings link in the footer or through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect the availability of certain features.

8. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and receive information about how it has been used and disclosed.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
  • Withdraw consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information, subject to legal and contractual restrictions.
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal retention obligations.
  • Challenge our compliance with PIPEDA by contacting our Privacy Officer or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer at the email address above. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. If we cannot fulfill a request in whole or in part, we will explain why, subject to any legal restrictions.

If you are located in a jurisdiction with additional rights (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have further rights, including data portability or the right to object to certain processing. We will honor those rights where they apply.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 16 without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact our Privacy Officer.

10. Third-Party Links and Services

The Services may contain links to third-party websites, marketplaces, agents, shipping providers, and social-media platforms. This Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing personal information or completing a transaction. If you use a sourcing agent, freight forwarder, or marketplace that is not operated by us, that provider’s privacy practices are governed by its own terms.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or the Services. The “Last updated” date indicates when the current version took effect. If we make material changes, we will provide a prominent notice on the Services or contact you by email where appropriate. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Policy, to the extent permitted by law.
